Senior Database Administrator/Data Consultant

Hourly rate contract 12-month assignment Are you a seasoned Database Administrator with expertise in AWS RDS (Aurora) and cloud technologies?
If so, we're looking for a Senior Database Administrator to contribute to creating reliable and scalable database solutions.
About the Role: As a Senior Database Administrator, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing our PostgreSQL databases in AWS RDS (Aurora), with a focus on high availability, security, and performance.
Working in a collaborative, Agile environment, you will support cross-functional teams, implement advanced database solutions, and help drive the evolution of our database practices.
Key Responsibilities: AWS Aurora PostgreSQL: Design and implement database solutions in AWS Aurora PostgreSQL global databases, utilizing AWS CDK and CI/CD pipelines.
Multi-Region Database Administration: Manage Aurora PostgreSQL databases, ideally within multi-region environments.
AWS Resource Management: Oversee AWS resources using CDK/CloudFormation/Terraform in production environments.
Performance Monitoring & Issue Resolution: Continuously monitor database performance, proactively identify issues, and apply corrective measures.
Data Integrity & Backup: Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and resilience.
Agile Contribution: Actively participate in Agile/SAFe development processes, contributing to planning, retrospectives, and other ceremonies.
To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate the below essential skills and experience: Managing AWS RDS (Aurora) in production at scale, including disaster recovery and backup restore procedures.
Managed a Postgres database in production and be a Postgres expert.
Experience working within an Agile environment.
Effective critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and within a team.
Automation & Scripting: Proficiency with database automation tools and scripting languages (Python, Bash).
Data Security: Knowledge of data security practices and compliance requirements.
To be eligible for this role you must currently reside in New Zealand and have the appropriate working visa status.
