The Parliamentary Library and Engagement Group | Te Pataka Rangahau, te Whakapapatanga supports Parliament through the provision of trusted library, information, research, and engagement services to members of Parliament, parliamentary staff, parliamentary agencies, and the public.
The Research Services team delivers tailored, high-quality research to Parliament members, committees, staff, and the community. They manage customer service, handle research requests promptly, provide briefings and reports on topics of interest to Parliament, and promote the Library's services and products.
Mo te tunga | About the role:
We are seeking a senior data professional with experience in data strategy to join our team as a Senior Data Strategy Adviser to lead the development of our Research Services team's data strategy and implementation roadmap.
In this key role, you'll collaborate with a Data Adviser, providing technical leadership to transform how we collect, manage, and utilise data for our customers. You'll drive innovation by creating visually engaging data products and work closely with Research Leads to foster change and enhance our customer service ethos.
Key responsibilities:
Creating and implementing a comprehensive data strategy for the Research Services team.
Working with Research Leads to fine-tune the strategy and set clear goals.
Developing user-friendly tools for data collection, analysis, and reporting, while suggesting the best software.
Building strong connections across teams to support a customer-focused approach and advance the Library's goals.
To kete | What you will bring to the role:
As a seasoned data strategist, you'll play a key role in shaping and implementing an impactful data strategy for the Research Services team. With a passion for collaboration and innovation, you'll bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills to the table, and your excellent communication abilities will help you share complex ideas in an engaging way.
The ideal candidate will also demonstrate:
A strategic mindset and ability to create and implement effective data strategies and roadmaps.
Exceptional communication skills, able to simplify technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
Knowledge of data science principles.
Experience with Business Intelligence platforms such as PowerBi, Tableau, Data Studio.
Experience with databases and SQL.
Understanding or experience using APIs.
Comfortable manipulating and analysing data from varying sources.
Ability to create examples, prototypes and demonstrations to enable interested parties to better understand the concepts.
Leadership skills, mentoring others and supporting their growth.
Excellent at building relationships and collaborating with diverse teams.

Please note: This is a 9-month fixed term role. The starting salary range for this role is $102,863 - $113,570 per annum. Appointments will be based on skills and experience (please note, the full salary range extends beyond this to allow for tenure progression).
