Job Ref: 3231
Recruiter Contact: Julie Graham
How could you deliver solutions that solve the complex problems the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry is facing? How could you use your systems architecture and solution design skills to bridge data silos and advance the industry with the help of Artificial Intelligence? We believe that we have some answers, but we want to know what ideas you can bring to us.
We are looking for a talented and highly-motivated person to join our digital services team in Auckland. As our Senior Data & AI Analyst at Mott MacDonald, you'll play a pivotal role in implementing our Knowledge & Information strategies across the Asia Pacific and Australasia region. You'll bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution, crafting specifications that drive digital solution development and deployment, ensuring data quality, integrity, and accessibility.
Our digital services team is committed to improving the world through state-of-the-art digital solutions, by combining domain expertise in the built environment with emerging software technologies, including AI.
At Mott MacDonald, we foster everyday creativity and innovation. You can expect to work in a vibrant environment and a unique team within a leading global consultancy firm.
What you will do:
In this role you will proactively work with a range of internal stakeholders to identify opportunities to streamline processes, utilising tools such as Microsoft Azure AI studio, Logic Apps / Azure Data Factory and Power Platform to develop solutions that address knowledge information needs across our business. You will foster cross functional collaboration and engage with senior decision makers to drive data management and analytics outcomes, ensuring integrated and optimised systems with strategic messaging.
About you:
We are looking for a candidate with a background in software development and the ability to guide others and manage a small to medium sized team, including tech partners and subcontractors. Your understanding of a range of programming languages, open source tools and frameworks will see you make great decisions on how to solve the problems you encounter in this role. Your ability to creatively source novel solutions based on your broad understanding of technological possibilities, as well as utilising the specialist SME knowledge from the people you will work with across engineering, design, and planning.
We would like you to also have:

Strong Computer Science background to choose the right algorithms, systems approaches and patterns to solve problems. Experience in machine learning and AI technologies and applications preferred.
Proven track record in managing projects and leading technical teams, including overseeing technical aspects of development work.
Skilled in Python, Javascript (Node.js, three.js, etc.), JSON, HTML, CSS, REST and .NET. Experience with C# and Azure Cloud Services a plus.
Experience using Git repositories for management of coding projects.
Track record of successful solution deployments and maintenance.
Experience using Microsoft's power platform, data visualisation and automation toolkit (Power Automate, PowerApps and PowerBI) will be a plus.
Experience with software packages commonly used in the AEC industry (Autodesk Forge, Autodesk Revit, Dynamo, Rhinoceros3D/Grasshopper) will be a plus.
Understanding of data governance and data privacy rules, such as GDPR and CCPA, as well as familiarity with information management frameworks and standards, such as ISO 19650, BS 1192 or PAS 1192, are desirable.

You've got this!
We offer you all the benefits that come from working in a global consultancy, including a competitive salary, flexible work arrangements, enhanced Kiwi Saver contributions, ongoing professional support, career development and a great opportunity to work on interesting high profile digital projects in an industry undergoing rapid digitisation. We are committed to fostering a culture that empowers our people, promotes teamwork and embraces sustainability.
If you don't tick every box in this ad, please don't rule yourself out. We focus on hiring people who share our values of inclusion, collaboration, adaptability, and integrity. So, if this role resonates with you, please send through your application.
There's no time like the present to make a change.
Equality, diversity and inclusion
We put equality, diversity and inclusion at the heart of our business, seeking to promote fair employment procedures and practices to ensure equal opportunities for all. We encourage individual expression in our workplace and are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels they have the opportunity to contribute.
Agile working
At Mott MacDonald, we believe it makes business sense for you and your manager to choose how you can work most effectively to meet your client, team and personal commitments. We embrace agility, flexibility and trust.
