He angitutanga | About the role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this is a crucial role in delivering commercial support and advice within DOC's regulatory system. Joining a team of five in our Regulatory Systems Performance Directorate, you'll have work that is varied and challenging, and a strong team who will support you to learn and develop into the role.
This is a complex and dynamic space where you will contribute to crown revenue settings. The role requires strong analytical skills, market analysis and commercial nous to ensure the Department is receiving a fair market return for activities on Public Conservation Land.
You will provide expert commercial advice and lead the development of fit-for-purpose valuation methods and fee setting approaches, whilst continuously scanning the external environment nationally and internationally to identify developments in valuation and commercial models that can be applied to our landscape. You'll also support the negotiation of high value/high risk opportunities with individual businesses, with the overall aim of ensuring fair commercial teams of operating while increasing revenue so that our conservation efforts continue to advance for the benefit of New Zealanders, and Papatuanuku.
This role is also influential in the development of our commercial policy within the Regulatory System and ensuring that DOC is operating in a fair and transparent manner to generate market returns for use of Public Conservation Land.

We're calling for experienced senior commercial advisors who feel aligned to our Kaupapa. Applications will be assessed for evidence or examples of the following:
Strong understanding of the commercial context for businesses operating in a regulated pricing environment.
Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills, with experience processing complex data and presenting it in a clear, engaging and impactful way.
Experienced in managing stakeholder engagements, partnerships and negotiations, including supporting and influencing commercial negotiations and projects.
A strategic operator with experience drawing from market trends to inform advice and analysis.
Ideally a background in financial accounting or valuations

The salary range for this position is $92,450 - $116,985. Salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate based on their level of relevant skills and experience.
