Senior Climate Adaptation Advisor
Company:

Urban Intelligence

Details of the offer

Environment & Sustainability Consulting (Consulting & Strategy) Urban Intelligence was established in 2021 with the mission of enabling evidence-based decisions in the climate and risk management space.
We serve diverse communities, including councils, central government, iwi, and infrastructure managers.
These groups face the critical task of making decisions related to climate change risks.
To make these decisions, the information on risks needs to be accessible and up to date.
The Resilience Explorer (REx), an interactive, user-tailored platform for scenario testing and risk-informed decision-making, was developed to support those decision makers.
It helps our communities tackle climate challenges and build resilience, not just here in Aotearoa New Zealand, but worldwide.
Our goal is to ensure we create a resilient world for future generations, and utilising REx is a key enabler of this objective.
We have assembled a team of researchers, analysts, and developers who are committed, passionate risk professionals on a mission.
We want to make a positive impact on the world today and in the future.
If you share this passion for making a difference, read on.
This role could be just what you are looking for.
About You You are deeply passionate about climate change and have an in-depth understanding of its associated risks.
You will have a willingness to help others understand the climate adaptation measures required to help reduce climate risk.
You enjoy working with a diverse range of clients to understand their needs and can work collaboratively.
You have proven experience in developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key business decision-makers, both internally and externally.
You understand the sensitivity required for delivering the messaging on climate risk and resilience.
This is a senior role, so you will have at least five years' experience in an advisory or consulting role, a government or policy agency or a wider industry climate risk role, who are looking to make a bigger impact.
About the Role You will be responsible for business development, project management, and delivery in areas related to climate risk and resilience.
Depending on your background and expertise, this may involve climate adaptation planning for councils or agencies, asset management with infrastructure providers, or financial disclosures with companies.
Through your delivery with clients, you will also work closely with the product team to further develop the REx platform so it is even more aligned and responsive to market needs.
You will identify and communicate client needs to support this development while demonstrating a deep understanding of the industry and marketplace.
You will continually seek further opportunities for supporting new organisations and clients, to provide them with the evidence base they need for their resilience and adaptation planning.
Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
Knowledge of relevant domestic climate change and sustainability policies, legislation, guidance and standards as well as a good understanding of the impacts of climate change.
An understanding of the regulatory framework underpinning climate change legislation in New Zealand.
Experience in climate-related impact/risk assessments, planning and strategy development and/or climate-related disclosure experience.
A high degree of personal motivation and a proven track record of success in managing multiple activities and delivering projects within designated timeframes.
A proven ability to research and make evidence-based recommendations.
Experience working in team environments and with diverse stakeholders.
An ability to build trust, rapport and credibility with senior leaders, potential clients, and stakeholders.
What we can offer We are a team of 15 people, and while not large, we enjoy the benefits of the fantastic culture that a team this size brings.
Needless to say, we have a supportive and collaborative work environment - we couldn't make the magic happen without this.
We offer flexible work options and a commitment to supporting you to grow and develop.
Our team is diverse and vibrant.
We believe that diversity breeds creativity and innovation, two things our team has in abundance.
We create an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
We actively seek candidates from all backgrounds to continually increase the diversity of experiences and viewpoints in our organisation.
How to apply Please submit your cover letter and CV via Seek or email to ******.
In your cover letter, we want to hear about your passion for this role and explain why you believe you would be an ideal candidate for our team.
If you would like more information about the role, please phone Nichola Blue on 027 698 3323.
