Meadow Restaurant and Bar is located in Meadowbank. Meadow is a vibrant, modern neighbourhood restaurant that is a local for many of our customers.
At Meadow we serve up light, uncomplicated bistro fare (with a Meadow twist), have a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients while always ensuring we provide our customers with a consistent food experience.
We are looking for a Lead/Head Chef to take the lead in our kitchen. You will be passionate about food and service and have the ability to develop and motivate our back of house team. Experience working in a kitchen that produces cabinet food would be an advantage, to assist with our cabinet food offer during the day.

Are fully qualified with experience in a senior Chef position or have 2-3 years experience as a senior Sous Chef and are now ready to lead

Are ideally available to work days, nights and weekends on a rostered basis
Are eligible to work in New Zealand
This position requires a mature, experienced professional with proven creative ability who is calm under pressure and can achieve the highest standards of cuisine in the industry. We want someone who would enjoy leading and being part of a small team committed to providing an excellent culinary experience for our customers.
Job tasks and responsibilities
Key Responsibilities and tasks will include:
Help in the preparation of the brunch, lunch and evening menus
Lead the team to assist in producing a sought after cabinet food offer
Produce high quality plates both design and taste-wise
Ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets our quality standards
Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and be confident to take control of any situation as required
Budgeting and cost control in the kitchen
Comply with Health and Safety Regulations and food preparation guidelines
Team building and motivating
Maintain a positive and professional approach with the Meadow team and the Meadow customer
Skills and experience
Fully qualified with experience in a senior Chef position or have 2-3 years experience as a senior Sous Chef and are now ready to lead
Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
Excellent record of kitchen and staff management
Accuracy and speed in handling situations and providing solutions
Familiar with industry's best practices
Absolute commitment to surpassing customer expectations
Good planning and analytical skills
Health and Safety Regulations and food preparation guidelines
Flexibility to work shifts – inclusive of weekends
Ability to adapt to large group and event bookings requirements
