Senior Android Development Lead (Wellington)

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Android Development Lead to join our team. In this role, you will lead the development of our Android applications, guiding the team in modernising and evolving legacy apps while implementing modularised architecture. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Android development, proven leadership experience, and a passion for creating high-quality, scalable mobile solutions. Key Responsibilities: Lead the Android development team, providing technical direction, mentorship, and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality software. Drive the modernisation of legacy Android applications, including refactoring codebases, improving performance, and integrating modern technologies. Design and implement a modularised architecture to enhance code maintainability, reusability, and scalability across multiple apps. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and backend engineers, to deliver seamless and user-centric mobile experiences. Establish best practices for Android development, including code reviews, testing strategies, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. Stay updated with the latest Android technologies, trends, and best practices, and advocate for their adoption within the team. Manage and prioritize tasks, ensuring alignment with business goals and project timelines. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Android applications. Contribute to the overall mobile strategy and roadmap, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 7+ years of experience in Android development, with a strong portfolio of published apps. Proven experience in leading and mentoring a team of Android developers. Expertise in modern Android development frameworks, tools, and libraries, including Kotlin, Jetpack, and Android Architecture Components. Strong understanding of modularised architecture principles and experience in implementing them in large-scale applications. Experience in modernising legacy applications, including refactoring, performance optimisation, and adopting modern development practices. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing for Android apps. Excellent problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of mobile performance optimisation. Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of backend technologies and APIs (REST, BFF GraphQL) as they relate to mobile app development. Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies. #J-18808-Ljbffr
