About the role | Mo te turanga mahi Engineering New Zealand is seeking a highly motivated and experienced policy professional to join us in our Wellington based office. In this pivotal role you'll help shape and drive our advocacy work to positively influence the key public issues in New Zealand. By being at the forefront of these conversations, we aim to ensure that engineering perspectives are well-represented and impactful. Working closely with our technical experts and other external partners, you will contribute to the development of policy positions and advocacy approaches. Your focus will be on opportunities that: Significantly impact the engineering profession or its disciplines. Address public issues where we can add value from an engineering perspective. Who we're looking for | Ta matou e kimi nei We are looking for a strategic thinker with a strong background in policy development and advocacy. Your success will hinge on your ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders. You are highly organized, adaptable, and excel in a fast-paced environment where you can work both independently and proactively. Your skillset will include: A bachelor's degree in public policy, or a related field, with a preference for candidates holding a postgraduate qualification. At least 5 years of experience in policy development, or a related role, preferably in the infrastructure sector. Proven expertise in policy development, written and verbal communication, stakeholder engagement, and understanding government decision-making processes. Demonstrated strategic thinking and analytical problem-solving abilities, including a track record of developing innovative solutions for complex challenges. Experience in working with engineers or engineering disciplines would be valuable, along with having existing government and industry networks.
