Details of the offer

Senior Advisor Infrastructure Delivery There's a good chance you've heard of the New Zealand Infrastructure Commission, Te Waihanga.
We're small (but mighty) and haven't been around long by government standards. But our job is as big as it gets, helping New Zealand get the right infrastructure, whether it's transport connections that get us from A to B, water and power connections needed to support affordable homes, or schools and hospitals that support our communities.
Te Waihanga seeks to transform infrastructure for all New Zealanders. By doing so, our goal is to lift the economic performance of Aotearoa and improve the wellbeing of all New Zealanders. Just some of our achievements include developing New Zealand's first infrastructure strategy which sets a direction for decades to come, as well as ground-breaking research into the roots of the housing crisis, the efficiency of our infrastructure sector, and recommendations for our health infrastructure while also maintaining a pipeline that provides insight into New Zealand's planned infrastructure projects.
We're looking for someone to work with the Director, Construction Productivity and the wider Te Waihanga Infrastructure Delivery team to support improvements in the systems, processes, and arrangements used in the planning, procurement, and delivery of major infrastructure projects and programmes in order to achieve their benefits at the lowest whole of life cost to taxpayers.
Role Purpose In this role, you will be responsible for researching and developing guidance and providing advice to support improved productivity and standardisation in the procurement and delivery of major government and crown infrastructure projects.
You will also be responsible for delivering specific advice, analysis, and evaluation of current and future opportunities to improve productivity in the wider infrastructure sector.
To do this you will be experienced at: Developing infrastructure delivery and contracting models and procurement strategies for major, complex, and high value infrastructure construction projects. Leading commercial negotiations and managing dispute resolution processes. Producing written advice to a government department, minister's office or agency e.g. writing talking points, aide-memoires, briefings and/or more broadly researching an issue and providing concise advice to senior management or governance. Developing initiatives to improve Construction Sector Productivity (at a project/production level, commercial/procurement level, system level, policy level or other). Applying Digital Engineering on a project or initiative e.g. Building Information Modelling (BIM), Digital Engineering, Asset Data Standards and Management, or Asset Management systems. You will also have: Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. engineering, accounting, quantity surveying, finance, commerce/business or law). Highly developed strategic and critical thinking and commercial acumen with strong financial analysis skills. Highest level of written communication skills and experience in the preparation of reports and executive documentation. Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders. About Our Team Te Waihanga is what's called an Autonomous Crown Entity or, even better, an ACE. We think about the whole infrastructure system - roads, waterpipes, powerlines, you name it, and our job is to give advice and uncover the insights that can make it all work as well as it can, supporting an Aotearoa that's great for the generations to come.
Our people are smart and passionate about this stuff. They're friendly and, this being a relatively small organisation, it's easy to work with anyone here and to have an impact.
We don't do hierarchy or stand on ceremony. We also value our people, and it's important to us that you feel welcome, supported, and respected.
What's in it for you We offer a competitive total remuneration package for this position depending on skills and experience. We also provide:
a flexible by default approach to support your work-life balance generous leave entitlements wellbeing support including subsidised health insurance membership for open-tenure employees. How to Apply Please take a look at the job description on our website ( and get in touch. We'd like to hear from you. To apply for this role, please visit or email ******. Applications close on 19 August 2024.
To be considered for this position you must have a legal right to live and work in New Zealand. Please note that we may begin shortlisting as we receive applications.
