Order by Senior Adviser, Pest Management Aquatic at Ministry for Primary Industries, Wellington City Job Title: Senior Adviser, Pest Management AquaticRole type: Full Time PermanentLocation: WellingtonSalary range: D $98,955 to $132,427 depending on skills and experienceApplications from MPI employees with Affected status will be given priority consideration.You will be accountable for initiatives to reduce the spread and impact of established pests of national significance and supporting the delivery of the Director-General's pest management leadership obligations.As Senior Adviser, you will lead the delivery of pest management and pathway management programmes and long-term responses to eradicate established pests.
The immediate focus for this role is the establishment of a long-term management programme for the freshwater gold clam Corbicula fluminea.Some of your key priorities will include:Planning and leading the delivery of the work programme and specific projects using foundations and frameworks that are in place across MPI, including programme and project management methodologies, and systems for the effective management of contracts and budgets.Identifying and assessing programme or other risks to determine appropriate mitigations and management interventions, including the effective management of Health and Safety risks associated with operational or other activity.Working closely with regional councils, iwi, and other stakeholders to achieve programme objectives.Supporting the Team Manager and Manager Pest Management Programmes by providing information, analysis, and advice, and undertake complex tasks that may require in-depth analysis and working across multiple teams.Responding to public inquiries and draft Ministerial advice and correspondence.You'll likely be working in the Biosecurity space or have a passion in this area.
You have likely supported initiatives led by other agencies or organisations ensuring alignment with MPI and pest management system strategies and work programmes.You love to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Relationship building and stakeholder management is in your daily repertoire.

This team consists of seven Senior Advisers with a range of skills and experience working in freshwater and marine biosecurity.
