Korero mo te turanga - About the role The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade works closely with Antarctica New Zealand – the Crown entity which manages Scott Base and is responsible for activities in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean, including scientific research, conservation and public awareness. The Antarctica and Environment Unit leads this work within the Ministry, working with other agencies. The purpose of this role is to enable and support the Ministry's monitoring responsibilities for Antarctica New Zealand. This has two particular areas of focus:Leading advice to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (as the Minister responsible for Antarctic issues) on Antarctica New Zealand's performance;Supporting the Ministry's monitoring of the Scott Base Redevelopment Project, including its chairing of the Scott Base Redevelopment Monitoring Group, and the Ministry's associated Governance Committee. Drawing from over eight years' experience with project management and, ideally, crown monitoring, the Senior Adviser, Monitoring and Project Delivery, coordinates this monitoring work, working closely with internal and external colleagues to ensure robust project planning, tracking, reporting and governance activities are completed and align with Ministry standards and expectations. Previous experience in monitoring a Crown entity is also highly desirable. In particular, we will be looking for you to demonstrate the following on your application:Experience in providing high-quality and timely project support services;Understanding of the 'It Takes Three': Operating Expectations Framework for Statutory Crown Entities;An ability to analyse complex material, and present a clear summary to senior leaders;Strong achievement/delivery/organisational focus, including high accuracy and attention to detail;Experience working with diverse project teams and stakeholders;Sound understanding of tikanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
