Senior Adviser - Depositor Compensation Scheme The Reserve Bank of New Zealand | Te Putea Matua is New Zealand's central bank. Its purpose is enabling economic prosperity and well-being for all New Zealanders | Toitu te Ohanga. The Reserve Bank is preparing to implement a Depositor Compensation Scheme (DCS) under new legislation that will promote the prosperity and well-being of New Zealanders. This is an exciting time as Te Putea Matua continues to transform to meet an evolving mandate and purpose. This permanent role contributes to an ongoing multi-year work programme that will enable Te Putea Matua to meet its requirements and obligations under the Deposit Takers Act 2023 ( DTA or the Act ) and specifically the introduction of the DCS. Te turanga – The role The focus of this permanent role will be in relation to the implementation and BAU running of the DCS . This is a key strategic and technical leadership position within the DCS team and instrumental for implementing DCS functionality by the middle of 2025 and beyond. The Senior Adviser, DCS will lead and guide workstreams that are strategic and core to delivering and operating the DCS. The Senior Adviser will provide technical guidance and provide leadership of the most complex and strategic workstreams of the DCS. A key task for this role will be to contribute to setting up the core DCS team and establishing strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Some of your responsibilities include: Lead the development and maintenance of key elements of the DCS. Provide intellectual and technical leadership. Lead projects or initiatives of strategic importance to the DCS. Provide advice on DCS pay-out options, fund management arrangements; stakeholder engagement; levy collections; and all other DCS-related aspects. Coach and mentor Senior Analysts/Analysts/Advisers in order to contribute to the team environment, learning, transfer of skills and staff development. O pukenga – About you You'll have: A detailed understanding of deposit insurance schemes and/or resolution and resilience policy matters. Proven technical and ideally people leadership skills. Track record of the ability to manage complex and strategic project work. Ability to design and implement strategies to achieve required decisions and actions. Strong academic qualifications, with relevant professional experience in related fields.
