About the role Nelson Hospital is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented individual to join our administrative support team as a Secretarial Support. As part of Planned Care, the role involves booking outpatient clinics for the Cardiologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Physiologists, booking Cath and Pacing/EP procedures, and cardiology investigations.
This critical role manages and coordinates all administrative aspects of the booking process, ensuring seamless patient care and efficient workflow in our cardiology department.

About you: As Secretarial Support, your duties will include:
Coordinate all bookings and appointments for cardiology outpatient clinics, ensuring seamless scheduling for patients and clinicians.Serve as the first point of contact for patient inquiries, providing exceptional service and clear communication.Collaborate with clinical staff to optimise clinic schedules and ensure efficient use of resources.Maintain patient records, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with hospital requirements.Skills and experience Proven experience in administrative or secretarial roles, preferably in a healthcare setting.Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with healthcare management systems.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.A high level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information.Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.A typing speed of 50 words per minute or more is essential.Knowledge of medical terminology is an advantage but not essential.Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.Experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.Working for Health New Zealand Health NZ is 'the weaving of wellnesses'.
