Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Certificated teacher
Granity School sits in the stunning Northern Buller region of the South Island, 28km north of Westport. It is in one of the most picturesque locations in New Zealand, close to the world-renowned Heaphy track, beautiful Buller Gorge, and the historic Denniston Plateau. The school has a fluctuating role of between 30 and 40 students, meaning class numbers are manageable.
We are looking for a skilled, energetic, and motivated teacher to join the dedicated team already working with our children. An ability to develop positive relationships with children, whanau, and staff is essential, as are strong classroom management skills.
Strengths in cultural competency, structured literacy (continuing our 3-year journey), and the ability to differentiate learning needs in a multi-level classroom are needed.
Our new Kaiako will: Understand the small rural community school vibe and the uniqueness this brings to the learning
Be committed to enhancing student achievement through sound curriculum knowledge, analysis, reporting, and planning
Set and model high expectations for students
Build strong community relationships of trust and confidence
Be approachable and demonstrate highly effective communication skills
We expect our new teacher will have a relentless focus on engaging students and promoting the successful academic, cultural, social, and sporting pathways for all our akonga. Our goal is to empower our students to be curious learners and to lead rewarding, culturally rich, and fulfilling lives as fully active and independent caring members of Aotearoa.
