We are seeking a passionate teacher and faith-filled director of religious studies (DRS) to join our team. We are a coeducational, integrated Y1–6 school with a roll of 300 students.
About the role:
We are looking for an experienced educator with a strong commitment to the Catholic faith and a dedication to fostering the spiritual and religious education of our students. The DRS will play a key role in promoting the special Catholic character of our school, working closely with staff, students, and our parish community to lead and guide our religious education programme.
Key responsibilities:
Leading the religious education curriculum across the school.
Fostering a strong Catholic ethos, grounded in the Dominican values.
Supporting and mentoring staff in their delivery of religious instruction.
Organising and leading school liturgies, Masses, Sacramental programme, and other faith-based events and initiatives.
Engaging with the wider school and parish community to strengthen our Catholic identity.
Providing pastoral care and spiritual leadership for students and staff.
Key attributes:
Strong knowledge of the Catholic faith and an active commitment to the teachings of the Church.
Leadership experience in a Catholic school setting, with the ability to inspire and guide others in their faith journey.
A passion for working with young people and fostering their spiritual and academic development.
Ability to build strong relationships within the school and parish communities.
This is a special character position, requiring a willingness and ability to participate in religious instruction appropriate to the school's Catholic character. The successful applicant must hold relevant NZ teaching registration.
The successful applicant would be a reflective, professional teaching in the Junior Syndicate. Someone who has initiative, adaptability, a growth mindset, a sense of humour, and strong curriculum knowledge and experience.
The successful applicant would start on the 30th January 2025.
