This critical role will develop and implement effective systems and initiatives that will focus on advancing the safety and wellbeing of our people.
With the incumbent moving into another exciting opportunity, the successful applicant will need to continue to promote and grow our safety culture and drive continuous improvement across the organisation.
Utilising your excellent communication skills will be key, while supporting and coaching both managers and team members to find solutions that improve both how we work and what we offer as an organisation.
Strong written and analytical skills are also advantageous, as this role will report to elected members on a 6-weekly basis.
Your enthusiasm and commitment to this role will drive high levels of employee engagement and will result in best practice becoming our BAU.
It is highly unlikely that any two days will be the same due to the breadth of Council's activities and workforce which includes horticulturalists, librarians, water rangers, lifeguards, civil defence volunteers, engineers and accountants, to name only a few.
So, to succeed in this role you will need to be proactive and results-driven, enjoy task diversity and want to be the lead in safety and wellness within an organisation of 300+ employees.

Who are we looking for?
A professional with a diverse range of skills and experience who has a positive outlook on life and prides themselves on providing high levels of service to others.
Relevant tertiary qualifications are preferred but having hands-on experience in a diverse environment and current knowledge of health and safety within NZ is essential.
