Join the team At Kmart, we take pride in our dedication to continuously improving the Safety & Wellbeing of our team members and as such, we are excited to share that we are looking for a passionate and people-focused Safety, Injury & Wellbeing Advisor to join our dynamic Health and Safety team in a 12-month fixed-term role with a genuine view for permanency!
Reporting to the Safety, Injury & Wellbeing Manager (NZ), this role will be at the forefront of coaching and building leadership capability to deliver best practice Health and Safety standards in store while showing care and support for team members recovering from a workplace injury.
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting our stores south of Rotorua to Invercargill in all aspects of Health, Safety and Wellbeing.
This will involve regular store visits, building strong partnerships with your Zone Managers, Store Leadership as well as our engaged Health and Safety Committees.
What you'll be doing In this role, your primary responsibilities will include: Store Engagement: Building strong relationships with Kmart stores by actively engaging with store management and in-store Health & Safety committees to enhance their understanding of Safety and Injury Management.
Proactive Coaching: Conducting in-store Health Checks and coaching store leaders on areas of opportunity and risk.
Drive Continuous Improvement: Continually monitor and enhance the effectiveness of onsite safety and injury management strategies and provide innovative solutions to drive improvement.
You will analyse hazard and incident trends to contribute to proactive control strategies.
Support Stores in Responding to Incidents: Focused on both the care for the employee and the learning and understanding of the incident/corrective action, you will ensure best practice standards are met across both areas.
Support injured workers: Consult and provide feedback to case officers on appropriate treatment, rehabilitation, and other services, as well as return-to-work issues.
Conduct fieldwork, including meetings with managers and health practitioners to discuss return-to-work issues and treatment.
To be successful in this role you'll have: A background in Safety and/or Allied Health (Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiologist) or a related field such as Rehabilitation Counselling.
Minimum of 3 years' experience in Safety/Injury Management.
Experience working in a self-insured environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
Experience in a retail environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize in a dynamic working environment.
High-level organizational skills with expertise in effective work and process planning.
Exceptional communication and influencing skills to negotiate and drive outcomes.
Excellent written and interpersonal skills, including effective communication with workers, managers, and medical providers.
Proven ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
