Mo te Turanga | About the RoleWe are currently looking for Crown Counsel (ideally with 6+ years post-qualification experience) into our Treaty team, which deals with issues with a Maori/Crown dimension, particularly in the context of te Tiriti o Waitangi/the Treaty of Waitangi.
We are seeking applications from lawyers who are interested in: working at the interface of government and te ao Maori; advice work, litigation, mediation and negotiation for the Crown; joining a diverse team of great people, who are committed to a collegial, supportive and enjoyable environment, and who care about the issues they are working on.

We are interested in applicants with: strong analytical skills, practical problem-solving skills and people skills; strong oral and written communication skills; knowledge and understanding of te ao Maori, the relationship between tikanga and the legal system and the Crown's responsibilities as a Treaty partner (or a willingness to develop and apply that knowledge and understanding).
Public sector experience is desirable but not essential.

Remuneration and Benefits:The starting salary range for this role is $114,585 - $187,839.
The appointing salary will be based on skills and experience.In addition, you will also receive 5 weeks' annual leave plus 3 additional leave days (Crown Law days).
