Our Risk Management Surveyors are based throughout New Zealand and they form a vital part of the underwriting and sales teams. This role offers the successful applicant the opportunity to be part of and learn from our experienced and well-respected Customer Risk Solutions team with a wealth of knowledge gained from diverse industry and technical backgrounds. As your work will involve visiting our customers and may include some regional travel a tool of trade vehicle would be available to you.

What you'll do:

Accountable for identifying and mitigating operational and property risks across a wide range of business types.
Work directly with our Insurance Brokers and our customers to arrange surveys, communicate ways to mitigate, discuss and motivate the need for risk improvements.
Ability to take a commonsense approach to risk management solutions.
Complete detailed and accurate reports which correctly communicate and document the risk.
Collaboration with internal stakeholders, provide risk management guidance advice to sales and underwriting ensuring the level of risk is correctly understood.
Work with the risk survey team and others to maintain technical knowledge, new standards, legislation, emerging risk within the business.
Drive the identification of new opportunities to enhance the customer experience, simplify business processes creating value for our customers, business partners and shareholders within the Business segment.


What you'll bring:

Experience and an excellent track-record within your existing field.
Possess previous risk surveying experience within the insurance industry or have a strong grounding in a related and complementary field.
Be a self-motivated and self-starting person who is confident, diplomatic and organised as you will be required to manage and prioritise both your time and workload to maximise productivity.
Ability to work well both independently with minimal supervision and as part of a geographically remote but closely-knit team.
Ability to relate positively to a diverse range of people with the ability to quickly build a good rapport with those you meet.
Demonstrate strong communication skills enabling you to convey technical information in written and spoken form, in a simple and understandable manner suitable to both internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrate a pragmatic approach to risk management, capable of developing common sense solutions and ability to motivate the need for these to clients, brokers and underwriters.
Experience with the use of modern information communication technologies and software packages.
Demonstrate a high level of health and safety awareness in a commercial/industrial context.
Hold a valid NZ driver's license for a light motor vehicle.
