Mo te tunga | About the role
Benjamin Doyle MP is looking for an enthusiastic and professional Executive Support and Researcher to join their team at the Parliamentary precinct in Wellington for 40 hours per week. This is a key role supporting an MP with exceptional administrative and research support. You'll be responsible for ensuring that critical administrative functions related to the smooth running of the MP's Parliamentary life (such as diary management and travel) are actively managed, while providing the member with research and briefings on their particular areas of interest.
Working as a core part of the MP's team, you'll step into an environment that is unique, exciting, and rewarding. This position offers real variety and plays a vital role in supporting Aotearoa New Zealand's democracy.
To kete | What you will bring to the role
You will be known for your strong attention to detail, initiative, and ability to quickly come up to speed. Your communication and relationship management skills will help you effectively share information, ideas, and experience with others. You will be comfortable working both autonomously and collaboratively.
Your research expertise means you can analyse issues with recognisable patterns and make independent decisions through considering precedents, referenced research or other solutions.
You will have previous experience in executive office administration and if you have excellent organisation and research skills, we can provide you with the support, mentorship, and training you need to succeed in this role.
Nga haepapa | Responsibilities:
Ensure the MP knows where they need to be, and when, through the organisation and coordination of their diary, and ensure they have the papers they require.
Support the development of policy and information gathering to provide research and advice to the MP and others in the team.
Ensure the smooth operation of the MP's role by providing executive administrative support (diary management, travel, and finance support).
Coordinate administrative activities in the MP's office including those for meetings, functions, and events, including collating invitations and arranging facilities and catering.

The pay band for the role starts at $72,100 per annum and appointments will be based on skills and experience. All employees who work for MPs are employed on an 'events-based' agreement, with your employment linked to your MP. This role is based at the Parliamentary precinct in Wellington, for 40 hours per week with a start date mid-January 2025.
