We're looking for Mandarin speaking Retail Assistants who are passionate about providing a fantastic, informative retail experience, and who can share the excitement of having Aoraki/Mt Cook as the ultimate adventure playground!
Our Retail Guest Services team look after the retail and activities center at the Hermitage which is frequented by our guests and day visitors to the area. While our Assistants spend most of their time in the retail and activities center, there will be a cross-functional aspect with the wider Guest Services and Guide teams.
What you will be doing: Upselling all services, activities and retail products available in the surrounding area, to maximize occupancy and revenue.Handling guest inquiries, providing accurate information on products and services ensuring accurate transactions and data entry.Keeping the public areas around the reception area clean and tidy.Ensuring that all security procedures are followed in relation to cash, keys, guest security and privacy.Greet and interact with all customers and aid as required, including checking them in for activities such as Glacier Explorers, Trekking and Stargazing.Maintain the visual standards of the store and represent the image of the hotel.Assist with the processing of stock deliveries and shop floor replenishment.Handling requests and complaints, deferring to the Manager/Supervisor when necessary.Jumping feet first into the day and helping wherever is needed.Working with the Manager/Supervisor in liaising with other departments and suppliers to forecast, meet and supply stores to the relevant quantity and quality.Building effective and professional supplier relationships and maintaining impeccable, honest business ethics in determining hotel suppliers.Supporting the Manager/Supervisor in the purchasing of the right goods and materials at the right price, at the required quality and in the right volume to ensure a cost-effective purchasing model within the hotel (to minimize wastage).What you will bring to the role: You will be a retail superstar, with the ability to build rapport with the guests and determine future needs.Previous experience in a customer facing position is required, ideally within the retail or hospitality industry.Front desk and guest service experience is beneficial.Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.Excellent attention to detail.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, Mandarin & English.Ability to prioritize, work to deadlines and remain composed under pressure.Work to a high standard, accurate and organized, flexible and as a team.The benefits: Full Time, minimum 60 hours per fortnight.Hourly rate is $25.00.Live in Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park with stunning surroundings and unparalleled views – a short and remarkable commute to work.
