Position: Restaurant Manager Location: Wigram, Christchurch Hours of work: Minimum 30 hours per week, Monday – Sunday (Rostered) Pay rate: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour depending on experience. About Us: We are a renowned Japanese Sushi Restaurant, celebrated for our unique "Pick Your Own Sushi" concept. In addition to sushi, we also offer a variety of authentic Japanese dishes, including Donburi, Curry, and Udon. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Restaurant Manager to lead our team and oversee the daily operations of our establishment. Job Description: As the Restaurant Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of the restaurant. Your duties will include: Overseeing daily restaurant operations to ensure smooth and efficient service. Designing and curating diverse and authentic Japanese menus. Incorporating seasonal ingredients, customer preferences, and new culinary trends to ensure a unique and delightful dining experience. Managing staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management. Ensuring excellent customer service and handling any customer inquiries or complaints. Monitoring inventory and ordering supplies as needed. Implementing and maintaining health and safety standards. Developing and executing marketing strategies to attract and retain customers. Managing financial aspects of the restaurant. Coordinating and managing special events and functions. Upholding the restaurant's high standards of quality and authenticity in Japanese cuisine. Providing excellent customer service, ensuring guests have a memorable dining experience by attending to their needs promptly and professionally. Performing other lawful and reasonable duties generally performed by a Restaurant Manager. Requirements: A tertiary qualification in management or a related field. At least 6 months of relevant managerial experience in the hospitality industry. Good knowledge of Japanese cuisines and culture. Strong leadership and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations. Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as required. Ability to handle difficult situations like staff shortages or dealing with customer complaints. Able to provide written references from previous employers for the reference check.
