About Us: Farmers Corner – Highway One Restaurant is a prominent tourist destination in Ashburton, NZ, renowned for serving authentic Chinese cuisine primarily to tour groups visiting our retail store. Our restaurant plays a crucial role in providing group meals while also exploring opportunities to attract local patrons.
Hours per Week: Average 40 hours per week
Key Responsibilities:

Manage day-to-day restaurant operations, including staff scheduling, inventory control, and quality assurance.
Uphold high standards of customer service to enhance the dining experience for both local patrons and Southeast Asian tour groups.
Handle bookings and communicate with tour operators to accommodate dietary requirements and special menu requests.
Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the restaurant.
Recruit, train, and mentor restaurant staff to maintain a skilled and motivated team.
Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure consistency and excellence in food quality.
Implement and enforce health and safety standards to create a safe and hygienic environment.

Qualifications:

Proven relevant experience in restaurant management or a relevant formal qualification (NZQF Diploma in Hospitality Management or equivalent).
Strong understanding of Chinese cuisine and Southeast Asian dining preferences.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
Knowledge of restaurant financials, budgeting, and cost control.
Fluency in Mandarin is a plus.
