THE ROLE /TE MAHI Weare seeking a dedicated, innovative person who has strong communicationskills, is a collaborative team player and can relate to people fromdiverse backgrounds.You will be required to travel to mainstream schools, Early Childhood Centres, Kura and Kohanga Reo to work closely with DHH students, whanau and school staff/teams to support learners.Youwill need to take responsibility for managing your assigned caseload,maintaining up to date assessment, planning and student records, liaisewith whanau, school and community agencies to support studentparticipation and success in their education and life outcomes.Proven best practice and experience working with Deaf children and/or working with mainstream children.Ability to build and maintain positive relationships withlearners, whanau, schools and other stakeholders.Qualified Teacher of the Deaf or an experienced NZ registered teacher.Use of own car with mileage reimbursed. Depending on expectedweekly mileage a lease car may be provided for your work travel.Must reside within easy access to the advertised region and bewilling to travel to support a designated caseload.You will have existing skills, or demonstrate a willingness todevelop proficiency, in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) and listening andspoken language practices for DHH learners.Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and upholding the principles ofTe Tiriti within teaching practice.Only applicants that are legally entitled to work in New Zealand and can make themselves available for an interview will be considered for this position.
