Salary ranges from $55,624 - $65,829 Permanent full-time, based at Te Ahuru Mowai o Aotearoa (Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre) in Auckland Tenei turanga - About the Role: The Refugee and Migrant Services (RMS) branch in Immigration New Zealand upholds New Zealand's international humanitarian obligations and commitments and works collaboratively across government, sectors, and communities to welcome, protect, and enable migrants and refugees to resettle and thrive in New Zealand. The Refugee Quota Programme team within RMS delivers refugee resettlement programmes for New Zealand. A new team of Residential Services Officers has recently been established within the Refugee Quota Programme to provide high-quality front-facing services at Te Ahuru Mowai o Aotearoa. You will contribute to the operations of Te Ahuru Mowai o Aotearoa by acting as the key point of contact for quota refugees and asylum seekers who are accommodated at the centre, from their arrival and through the duration of their stay. You will also act as a key point of contact for visitors and service providers requiring access to the centre. You will participate in planning and organising the day-to-day operations at Te Ahuru Mowai o Aotearoa, and provide quality services relating to the care, wellbeing, and rights of refugees and asylum seekers. You will liaise with other service providers to maximise efficiency and ensure the smooth running of the refugee orientation programme. The team operates on a 24/7 basis including rostered weekends. Residential Services Officers work on rostered shifts, 4 days on, 3 days off, 10hrs per day with rotation every 3 months. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. Ability to work effectively without direct supervision. Strong analytical skills and a demonstrated ability to exercise sound, reasoned judgement. Solutions orientated and strong problem-solving ability. Excellent organisational skills with a focus on prioritisation. Comfort using the Microsoft Suite – including Word, Excel and Teams; and facilities management systems. Ability to discreetly deal with confidential information. Police vetting is required. NZ full current driver licence is essential. Able and willing to undertake shift work as per the team schedule and in accordance with MBIE policy on a 24/7 basis. Reasonable level of fitness required for day-to-day operations. Knowledge of a language of a major client group of the Refugee Quota Programme and/or exposure to overseas travel or other cultures would be an advantage but is not essential.
