You will be part of a dynamic team working closely with Consultants, allowing you to widen your practice as your skills grow.
The Hospital covers an area of 12,600 square kilometres with a population of approximately 170,000, 32% of whom identify as Maori.
The ED provides emergency services for this entire area from four locations including Whangarei Hospital (base) and three small regional hospitals located in Kaitaia, Dargaville and the Bay of Islands.
The hospital also has a 7 bed Intensive Care Unit and High Dependency Unit - Helicopter retrievals and transfers.
There is an active clinical training programme with didactic sessions, interactive based teaching, journal club and video conferencing.
The Location Whangarei is called the "Meeting place of the Pacific" because of its many international yachting visitors and the Northland region boasts some of the most scenic and exciting coastal areas of NZ in a subtropical climate.
