The role/Te mahi
Our research group based in Invercargill (Southland Hospital), is exploring the use of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) to improve postoperative outcomes, and we need assistance to conduct exercise interventions.

Key tasks of this role include:

Recruiting patients.
Training patients.
Setting up laboratory equipment.
Recording data.

We are looking for candidates with:

Excellent organisational skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish patient rapport.
Ability to interact compassionately and tactfully with participants.
Ability to work independently as well as within a strong team environment.
Willingness to learn new skills.


Experience with cardiopulmonary exercise testing and/or exercise training would be ideal, but full training will be given.
The appointee will need to hold a current first aid certificate for this role. Ideally, candidates will have this at the time of application, but if not, the candidate will be given the opportunity to obtain this before commencing.

This is a fixed term (until 31 January 2026) position, located in Invercargill (Southland Hospital).
Hours are variable (minimum 10 hours – maximum 40 hours month). Work hours will depend on patient availability and will be by negotiation with the successful candidate.
