He angitutanga | About the role We're seeking a Research Technician to join our Biodiversity team on a fixed-term basis. This role is crucial in carrying out research work for our Biodiversity programme and will specifically support research to understand the invertebrate biodiversity values of braided river ecosystems. The position will be focussed on: Identifying terrestrial invertebrates to Order, Family, Genus and Species level based on morphological characteristics. Locating and using taxonomic keys and reference specimens. Curating reference specimens following agreed standards. Collaborating closely with researchers and staff at Lincoln University to support ongoing projects and contribute to the advancement of departmental goals. Working with project leads to prioritise tasks, solve problems and design novel approaches. Providing day-to-day supervision of volunteers or contractors as required. Tracking and collating data and reporting on season progress and outcomes. Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experience If you have some of the following, we are keen to hear from you: A relevant tertiary science qualification or equivalent experience including in the identification of invertebrate species using taxonomic keys. Competence and carefulness in research laboratory environments. Strong collaboration and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. High personal and professional standards with attention to detail. Understanding of the Maori Crown relationship and its importance to DOC. The salary range for this position is $60,314 to $75,603 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
