Postdoctoral Fellow - Centre for Soil and Environmental Research Conduct collaborative research to advance the research programme of the Centre for Soil and Environmental Research (CSER), the Soil & Physical Sciences Department and the Agriculture and Life Sciences Faculty. In this role you will support the CSER research programme funded by the New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas emissions Research Centre (NZAGRC). Some key tasks of the role include: Research: conduct research to develop bacterial based technologies to mitigate nitrous oxide emissions. Administration: contribute to the functioning of the Department and Faculty. Service: commit to service to the University and the wider community. This is a 24-month fixed-term role 37.5 hours per week based at our Lincoln Campus. The salary range is set at $75,000 per annum. To be successful in this role you will need: A PhD in microbial biology, soil microbiology, with molecular biology skills, or other relevant qualifications. Significant experience in the isolation, identification, culturing and characterisation of soil microbes, DNA extraction, qPCR, sequencing, phylogenetic analysis and metagenomics. Experience in data analysis with proven Excel, statistical and modelling skills. Evidence of research interpretation, reporting through a developing record of scholarly research and publication. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with students and staff from a diverse range of backgrounds. Experience in soil microbial research in relation to nitrogen cycling in soil/plant systems is desirable. Demonstrated commitment to Manaakitaka and Lincoln University values.
