The position is a 12 month fixed term contract and will be covered by the advanced trainee contract category F.There are six regional cancer centres in New Zealand, our regional centre comprises an inpatient ward including an autologous bone marrow transplant suite, day care and chemotherapy suite, outpatient department and radiation treatment facility.At Waikato Hospital there are currently seven medical oncologists, seven haematologists, eight radiation oncologists and five palliative care physicians and multidisciplinary services.Our research unit is involved with the full spectrum of clinical trials, including phase I-IV trials of novel agents, treatment modalities, investigator led research.
-.As a Regional Cancer Centre we provide oncology/haematology services to a regional multicultural population of around800, 000, with both chemotherapy and radiotherapy administration and outpatient clinics in Hamilton and three secondary hospitals.
Waikato Hospital is a teaching hospital and one of five campuses of the University of Auckland Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.
The Blood and Cancer GovernanceGroup was established in 2016 in recognition of value the clinical trials team contributed to oncology/haematology practice with a focus to advance the development of evidence-based practice through focused research.
The candidate must have qualifications that would satisfy the requirements for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and must have a driver license.
Hamilton is situated in the North Island of New Zealand along the banks of the Waikato River.
The city has a population of 150,200 (source Stuff August 2016) and is approximately 2 hours south of Auckland.
Beaches on the east and west coast are approximately 1-2 hours away and ski fields are under 3 hours' drive time.
