Opo Bio's a startup developing the enabling technology for biomanufacturing at scale, including producing cultivated meat and cell-derived collagen. We use world-leading science to solve the industry's biggest challenges, developing cell lines and matched media. If you want to be part of a high-performing, high-paced technical team based in Newmarket, Auckland get in touch!The roleWe're looking for a driven and technically proficient researcher ready to make an impact and bring our novel biotech products (cell lines and animal derived products like collagen) to market.As a research team member, you'll lead and execute experiments focused on developing our cell line products. You'll be designing, implementing, and troubleshooting experiments with varying levels of autonomy, consistently maintaining high standards of excellence. Because our team is small, you will also have the opportunity to develop skills in other areas of the business. You will be directly reporting to the CSO.What We're Looking ForAt Opo, attitude is everything. We want a highly motivated, self-driven individual who is excellent at mammalian cell culture, or has demonstrated excellence in a closely related field. If you thrive in a fast-paced lab environment and enjoy multitasking, this could be the perfect fit for you.Desired skills/experience include:BSc Honours/MSc/PhD or related discipline, completed within the past 12-24 monthsExperience in bioreactor cultureProficiency in mammalian cell cultureStrong background in cellular and molecular biology techniques (e.g., microscopy, flow cytometry)Ability to work independently and in collaborative team settingsLegal right to work in New ZealandYour Responsibilities:Design, execute, and document experimental protocolsContribute to drafting data for patents and publicationsProvide internal project reports and updatesMonitor and stay current with relevant scientific literatureWe have multiple roles available including fixed-term and permanent. All are full-time based on-site at Opo HQ.
