As part of the Reintegration team, you will contribute to reducing re-offending by providing the people in our care with the opportunity to improve their work habits, experiences, and skills in order to increase their chances of obtaining sustainable, post-release employment.If you are a confident and professional communicator, a strong relationship builder, and the type of person who believes making a difference counts, then this could be your dream role.Nga kawenga | About the roleThe position of the Release to Work (RTW) Broker is the principal liaison role for managing RTW placements and the monitoring of these placements for Offender Employment at Site level. The RTW Broker will work with prisoners, interviewing them and escorting them to interviews. You will be pro-actively working with the General Manager and staff to optimise RTW placements. This role will involve extensive networking with community and business groups and employers.This role could be based at either Otago Corrections Facility or Invercargill Prison and will involve work across both sites and travel between sites (pool car available for travel).Your ability to lead and influence is paramount to your success as you liaise with prison teams and the employers to enforce conditions of release and provide ongoing monitoring of the work placement to ensure issues are resolved and plans are met.To be successful in this role, you will have good negotiation skills and a good understanding of the geographical area and associated employment challenges. The successful person will be able to:Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of labour market trends, with an ability to match job specifications to prisoner requirements.Be resilient while remaining solutions focused.Develop and maintain strong working relationships with a variety of employers, from government agencies to commercial networks.Have excellent decision making, professional judgement, and risk analysis.Demonstrate strong planning, organisational, and marketing skills.Have the ability to communicate at all levels, both oral and written.It is important that your previous work history demonstrates your commercial acumen and your ability to influence and work successfully with a wide variety of stakeholders.A full New Zealand driver's licence is essential as you will be expected to travel in the area in a Department vehicle.The starting salary is $68,456 - $73,447. Once in the role, salary is anniversary based progression.
