Watercare is the largest water and wastewater utility in New Zealand, delivering more than 400 million litres of water to Auckland every day. Role Overview Responsible for facilitating the Watercare release and change processes and driving a culture of transparency and visibility of releases. The role is supported by the Release and Change manager and has environmental responsibility to ensure release and change accountability is clearly assigned. The role will review submitted changes to ensure change sign-off, approvals, risks, and communication plans are in place prior to authorization.
Key Responsibilities Contribute and maintain change policies and plans, providing clear direction across teams.
Work closely with Delivery Leads and Product Owners to deliver incremental releases through Pre-Production and Production environments.
Ensure that Pre-Production release requirements are met prior to a solution release being moved into production.
Drive and provide visibility of real-time measurement across the release management processes.
Escalate impediments, manage risk, ensure value delivery, and drive continuous improvement.
Remove obstacles to ensure delivery of valuable capabilities at pace.
Constructively challenge key stakeholders on issues.
Lead a collaborative planning process, prioritizing work against capacity and capability across squads.
Motivate and lead the Release Management processes and stakeholders, fostering an environment for continuous learning and improvement.
Champion Change Management best practices throughout the organization.
Support the Change Manager in day-to-day duties.
Minimum Requirements Previous experience leading Release Management across large, complex programmes.
Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to communicate clear strategy and purpose.
Comprehensive experience in leading and facilitating large multi-disciplinary teams.
Proven experience using agile project management methods.
Experience in release management, demonstrating proactive engagement to deliver outcomes.
Comfortable balancing multiple priorities and dealing with ambiguity.
Hands-on experience in agile environments and leading effective release management throughout the product lifecycle.
Strong facilitation skills, presenting technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Sound understanding of the digital landscape, open source technologies, and modern practices around continuous deployment.
Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
