Here you will be exposed to several runs which include tertiary level caseloads. The opportunity to provide healthcare to a large geographical area ensures your exposure to a wide range of work. Great support for educational needs, including weekly teaching, case discussions, journal clubs, and peer review sessions. In a department that has a strong academic presence, opportunities for successful candidates will be far and wide, and will involve the ability to undertake research as part of training.

Cardiothoracic Surgery (one Registrar every six months)ICU (one Registrar every six months)We have a unionised after-hours roster in place, with 21 registrars on the rotation. The runs available will depend on the start date of the successful candidate.
Our ideal candidate will have: Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at www.mcnz.org.nz.We are interested in hearing from RMOs with an interest in surgery looking to pursue a surgical career or wanting some surgical experience to contribute to their career aspirations. Our surgical RMO management works closely with Registrars to achieve career goals.We welcome expressions of interest from RMOs with less than two years' experience who are intending to apply for the 2025 training year. Please make note of this in your application.It is a requirement of the Medical Council of New Zealand that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you have a commitment to working in New Zealand, it is highly recommended that you start this process as soon as possible to allow your subsequent registration to be undertaken in a timely fashion. Utu whanui | Salary range This role is covered by the terms and conditions of New Zealand Resident Doctors' Association & 20 DHB Multi Employer Collective 18 June 2024 – 31 July 2026 (NZRDA SECA) and Specialty Trainees of New Zealand and 20 District Health Boards Multi Employer Collective Agreement 14 February 2024 – 28 February 2026 (the STONZ SECA) and the salary will fall between $160,955 - $240,440 depending on relevant experience.
