Transit Services operates as a 24 hour 7 day a week Unit, delivering services to multiple specialties such as patients due for discharge, preparation and management of day-stay patients and elective surgery inpatients for various procedures, and supporting the organisation in efficient and effective hospital flow. The environment is interesting and varied, including patients from a variety of in-patient and out-patient departments who are on their homeward journey, with our goal being to ensure they are supported well in their discharge. The Wellington Hospital Transit Lounge is located in close proximity to Medical Assessment Planning Unit (MAPU) and Emergency Department (ED).
