Interior Health is seeking an experienced and dynamic Perioperative Registered Nurse to join our Operating Room team at KOOTENAY LAKE REGIONAL HOSPITAL in beautiful NELSON, B.C.! About the Job:The Registered Nurse:
• Provides nursing care to OR patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
• Enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers
• Demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence based practice in nursing practice
• Maintains and advances own clinical competence
• Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned
This is a RELIEF PART-TIME (0.61 FTE) OPPORTUNITY until November 01, 2025, or the return of the incumbent.
Shifts of work will be scheduled days and evenings; rotating from 07:00 to 15:00, 07:30 to 15:30, 08:30 to 16:30, 08:30 to 17:00, 09:30 to 17:30, 11:15 to 18:45 hours.
About this location/unit:Nelson: Kootenay Lake Hospital's Operating Room Department has two OR theatres functional Monday to Friday. Types of procedures include: Endoscopy, Major Obs/Gyne, Dental, Ophthalmology/Cataracts, minor Ortho, and minor General Surgery. Up to nine Operating Room RNs circulate/scrub, including a float nurse plus a RN is Daycare Surgery and PAR. The hospital has a strong Obs/Gyne program supported by 24/7 on-call operating room capacity.

Qualifications
• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
• Current CPR certification required
• Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of the assigned area (perioperative nursing) and one year recent related clinical experience in the assigned practice environment on an operating room similar in size and scope to the facility or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
