Registered Nurses – Ward 10a Special Needs Unit Intellectual Disability Service Wakari Hospital, Dunedin Salary Band – $75,773 – $106,739 p.a prorata + Kiwisaver Permanent, full and part-time positions Great Nursing Professional Development + exceptional MDT + opportunity to make a difference Easy commute / Affordable lifestyle The Intellectual Disability Service (IDS) is part of the Specialist Mental Health Services based at Wakari Hospital, high above Dunedin. The IDS comprises of three parts, Ward 10a – a 12 bed inpatient service, Helensburgh Cottage – a 4 bed inpatient rehabilitation unit and the Community Liaison Team. You will work alongside the multidisciplinary team comprising of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Mental Health Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Psychiatrists.
Ward 10a is a medium secure 12 bed inpatient service for Intellectually Disabled clients, aged 17 to 65 years, whom require assessment and treatment under the Mental Health Act or are subject to the criminal justice system via the Intellectual Disability Compulsory Care and Rehabilitation Act 2003.
Mou ake | About you / Mo te turanga | About the role We are looking for experienced Intellectual Disability, Mental Health or Comprehensive Registered Nurses to join our supportive multidisciplinary team. You will be an enthusiastic Registered Nurse with a range of skills and the ability to work effectively with a large team to a high standard of practice.
Our ideal candidate will have:
A positive attituude Exceptional communication skills Passion for supporting people from admission to discharge Registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and have a current APC and hold a scope of practice that allows you to work in Mental Health or Intellectual Disabilities (more information can be found at ) Current eligibility (citizenship, residency or work visa) to live and work in New Zealand This is an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical skills on a shift-by-shift basis. You will be working alongside patients in a complex environment to meet their identified needs in a multi-disciplinary setting. The emphasis is on the delivery of safe client focused care in an ever-changing dynamic setting.
The role encompasses the acute care of patients recently admitted as well as the continuing care and rehabilitation of patients with complex needs. You will work closely with the Charge Nurse Manager, Associate Charge Nurse and the Clinical Nurse Specialist.
