Mo te tunga | About the roleThe Youth Development Unit (YDU) provides young people (13 – 25 years) with a range of comprehensive programmes designed to enable course participants to progress into job placement, trade training, further education and re-engagement in local communities.In this role you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide acute physical and mental health assessments, including the management or referral of all YDU trainees suffering from sickness or injury through to continued nursing support and the triage of all young people attending courses at YDU.
In this role you will also be required to advise on, and write Health policy for, YDU and undertake other health-related requirements as dictated by the needs of the Unit such as risk assessment.Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and ExperienceWe are seeking a Registered Comprehensive Nurse with a current NZ practising certificate who has previous experience of working in a variety of clinical settings including Primary, Mental Health and Emergency healthcare who is also experienced in working with youth and young adults from varied cultural backgrounds.This is a busy and varied role which has many parts to it including patient triage, on-going health support, risk management and health support to trainees undertaking indoor and outdoor training activities to name a few.To be considered for this role you will need to possess patient focused critical reasoning and professional judgement, have excellent communication skills as you will need to have ability to liaise with a wide range of people.
You will be confident working in a team environment with a proven ability to maintain absolute integrity and confidentiality.The successful candidate will also be required to possess a moderate-high level of physical fitness to meet the demands of the outdoor training activities.We do require a person who can be:'On Call' within 1 hour travel time of the primary workplace.Away from home for approximately 12-24 overnight 'Sleepover' duties per annum.You will be compensated for these extra responsibilities.Nou te rourou | What's in it for youYour skills and dedication deserve recognition, and NZDF delivers with competitive pay matched to your experience.
