Ko wai matou - Who are we
Education New Zealand - Manapou ki te Ao (ENZ), is a Crown Agency responsible for international education, benefiting New Zealand socially, culturally, and economically.
Promoting New Zealand education and working to support the delivery of education services offshore, ENZ also administers scholarships to New Zealanders wishing to study overseas, and scholars seeking a New Zealand education.
Te ahua o Te Turunga - The nature of the position
We are looking for an experienced director to lead and support our China team to deliver ENZ's strategy in the Greater China region through focused activity and leveraging opportunities with other Government agencies to promote New Zealand education.
The role is accountable for ensuring that all work is aligned with ENZ's strategic goals. China is one of our key markets and we are seeking an individual who will thrive on the diverse opportunities and challenges this role presents.
The Regional Director Greater China also carries the diplomatic position of Counsellor (Education) and will be accountable on behalf of the New Zealand Government for managing the bilateral government-to-government education relationships in Greater China.
Nga tino Pukenga / Wheako - Essential skills / experiences for the role
A tertiary qualification in Marketing, Business or another relevant disciplineSound commercial acumen, expertise, and presenceDemonstrated experience of leading a culturally diverse and regionally dispersed teamDemonstrated experience, knowledge and understanding of the international education sectorSenior public and / or private sector experience gained overseas and / or in New ZealandProven ability to engage effectively with leaders of industry, business, and local governmentStrong understanding of marketing and communications, with media experience ideally in an international environmentExperience in China and fluency in Mandarin preferredTe tono - How to apply
