Enliven is a not-for-profit service providing aged residential care to older people in the lower half of the North Island.
Mo te turanga - About the role
As a Recreation Officer / Diversional Therapy assistant, you will be responsible for planning and facilitating individual resident's recreation plan and recreation programme for the residents of the Dementia Court.
This involves running daily activities with staff and volunteers, planning the social calendar for the home and supporting our residents to pursue their interests.
You will also encourage residents to maintain their independence, learn new skills and maintain connections with their community.
The role is based in Masterton and will be working in our Dementia Court between Monday to Friday, 09.30-16.00.
Mo koe - About You
As well as a passion for the wellbeing of older people, you will be enthusiastic but patient and well organised with great interpersonal skills and sense of humour.
You will share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect.
You will be looking to use your events or recreation skills to create enjoyable events for our residents to participate in and make them the talk of the day!
In Addition, You Will Have

Qualification in Diversional Therapy or studying towards obtaining this
Experience working with Elders or with people experiencing memory loss, is a distinct advantage
Ability to listen and work with people to recognise and support their individual needs
Some computer literacy is required to keep electronic records and note taking
A current full driver's license is required as you may be driving the Enliven van.
You will have some flexibility and willingness to participate fully in life at our home, which may mean working outside of normal hours for events or celebrations, and to support specific activities at times.
