Our Rates Team is set up to assess and collect rates, which is an integral part of the Council's income stream to support the daily operation and ongoing rejuvenation of our city. With one of the highest volumes of ratepayers in the country, we are a busy high functioning team who wear many hats when it comes to delivering best practice for our customers.
We are now looking for a Rates Officer to join our team.

The role includes responding to enquiries and setting up direct debit authorities, working with customers to collect arrears and work out payment plans, and at times you may also work with water rates billing.
This is a multi-faceted role with a lot of variety, and you will ensure that all rates duties are performed to a high standard. Having strict deadlines means you will be goal orientated.
We have a very solid team who work well together and are always thinking outside the square - this is a great opportunity to join our team.
About you | Ko Koe Tenei
This role would suit someone who:
Has excellent written and verbal communication skills, and data entry experience.
Is empathetic and can take a fair and consistent approach, as this role involves working closely with customers.
Can work effectively under time pressure in a high-volume environment.
Has previous exposure to interpreting policies, regulations or legislation, which would be advantageous.

Hours of work: Mon-Fri, 40 hours per week.
Position: Permanent.
Location: This position is primarily based at Te Hononga Civic Offices, 53 Hereford Street, Christchurch Central.
Salary: The salary band for this position goes from $62,674 - $69,638 per annum, based on a 40 hour week.
