The Department of Conservation is seeking applicants for the position of Ranger, Community; Kaitiaki, Ao Hapori.
This is an exciting opportunity for you to become part of a strong, tight-knit, and hardworking team.You will contribute towards growing conservation in the Wairarapa District alongside our Treaty partners and the community.The position will be focused on:Building relationships with community groups to empower them to undertake conservation activities.Supporting conservation community group events and DOC events such as Conservation Week.Coordinating responses to Official Information Act requests and Ministerial correspondence.Supporting the Community Senior Ranger to develop material for print and social media.Managing public queries on behalf of the Wairarapa Operations Team.Skills and experience: If you have some of the following, we are keen to hear from you:Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Experience creating impactful and long-lasting relationships.Ability to work in a role where cultivating trust and respect is key to success.A passion for working with whanau, hapu, and iwi and respect for te ao Maori me nga tikanga.Ability to create and maintain positive working relationships across a broad range of public and private sector groups.Full New Zealand driver licence.Desirable: A background in communications and/or public sector.About the team: The Regional Operations Group is responsible for delivering conservation work on the ground through our biodiversity, recreation/historic, and community engagement teams.What's in it for you?
