He angitutanga: The opportunity
We are looking for a practical, customer focused individual to join the Southern Regional Parks ranger team. The role may undertake a broad scope of duties in areas including recreation, education, conservation, asset management, partnerships and farming. The regional parks are passionately maintained and cared for by Park Rangers, volunteers and local communities.
As a Ranger, this role presents you with a fantastic opportunity to facilitate recreational opportunities for our customers, protect our natural, historical and cultural taonga, and contribute to the farming operations of the parks, while supporting the values that make our organisation and parks world class.
He korero mou: About you
The role focuses on management and maintenance of park assets, achieving conservation outcomes, providing customer service, provision of recreation opportunities, farming duties, and ensuring park facilities meet our visitors' needs. Managing our natural and historical resources will afford you the opportunity to further develop existing strong practical and communication skills.
You will ideally have previous experience in a parks, reserves and recreation environment and be able to demonstrate customer service delivery to a high level. A qualification in a recreation, environmental or parks management field is highly desirable. It is essential that you have a clean full New Zealand drivers' licence and be able to drive a manual vehicle. You will enjoy working with customers, stakeholders, iwi and volunteers. You will have a 'can do' positive attitude to make things happen, have sound practical experience, be proactive, approachable and motivated.
This role requires working on a 40 hour a week roster system, being available weekends and public holidays and responding to calls outside normal working hours (when on call) or during rostered on call periods.
