About the Role The Child Development Service is a community-based team of health professionals who are passionate about improving the health outcomes of children with developmental delays or disabilities. We work collaboratively with families/whanau and other services to support their goals and reach their potential. Our team of Allied Health Professionals works with children in their homes, schools, and at our clinics in Christchurch Central City.
We currently provide a Monday – Friday service. The days and hours required for this position are negotiable.
In this role, you will:
Complete assessments to consider Autism and Intellectual Developmental Disorder diagnosesWork collaboratively with children and their whanau through the assessment processWork alongside other Psychologists within the Child Development Service; Paediatricians; Education professionals; and other health professionalsProvide education to whanau where appropriate to support the child's development/functionAbout You We're currently looking for an NZ Registered Psychologist who is passionate about children to join our team! Experience in child development, paediatrics, or disability servicesExperience in Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Developmental Disorder diagnosesThe ability to work with children and their whanau from diverse backgroundsThe ability to work collaboratively with whanau and the multidisciplinary team to ensure a holistic approach to patient careCompetence using the Microsoft Office suiteCompetency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthExperience in projects/initiatives that give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settingsAs this is a community-based service where travel is required, a NZ driver's license with the ability to drive a manual car is essentialNZ Registration with the Psychology Board and a current Annual Practicing Certificate is essentialWorking for Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of Aotearoa/New Zealand.
