The Mental Health and Addiction Services is located on the Timaru Hospital campus and is where this role is based.About youIn South Canterbury we deliver a Strengths Based Model of Care and we are seeking someone that will bring their clinical expertise to our Mental Health and Addictions Service (which is recognized by Government & general public alike, as being a priority need area).The ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues from all disciplines is essential. We are seeking an experienced Psychiatrist who is eligible for Vocational Registration with the NZ Medical Council and or a Fellow of the Australasian College of Psychiatrist (or equivalent).Additionally, we are seeking someone who demonstrates:Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.Experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.Health New Zealand - South Canterbury is responsible for the delivery of services throughout the South Canterbury region and Timaru Hospital (131 beds) serves a district population of approximately 50,000 based in a General Hospital Facility, providing our local community with critical 24/7 services such as ED, ICU/CCU, General, Orthopaedic, & ENT Surgery, O&G, Psychiatry, Geriatrics, Oncology & Palliative Care, Internal Medicine, and Paediatrics.
