As a Property Officer at Waitaki District Council, you will be part of a team that manages a diverse portfolio of properties and assets, ensuring they are effectively utilised and maintained. From community housing, Oamaru Harbour, the Oamaru Airport to managing varied leases and licences and strategic acquisitions and disposals. You will oversee their management, compliance, and alignment with Council's strategic and performance goals.

This role involves providing expert advice on property management, contracts, leasing, and compliance while maintaining property databases and supporting capital and renewal projects. You will collaborate across multiple teams to ensure properties are well-maintained and meet community needs, contributing to the district's overall growth and sustainability.

Qualifications and Experience: A qualification in or working toward property management, asset management, or legal studies, or 3-5 years of relevant experience. A full NZ Driver's Licence is essential.

Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of property, building, and contract/leasing management, with expertise in legislation related to purchase and sale, easements, subdivisions, resource consents and tenancy arrangements.

Analytical and Organisational Skills: The ability to assess asset performance, recommend improvements, and manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining accurate records.

Communication and Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to provide expert advice, liaise with stakeholders, collaborate across multiple teams, and contribute to the success of property and maintenance of the overall portfolio.

Customer Focus: A commitment to ensuring that properties meet community needs while maximising returns to support Council activities.
