Our client is looking for a practical hands-on person with excellent organisation and communication skills. You will be able to follow instructions well, use your own initiative, work unsupervised most of the time, and also be able to work in a team environment. Have a passion for the outdoors, working on a 315ha Northland coastal property with 2ha of gardens where the owners value their privacy.
Duties include but are not limited to: Maintenance and development of an Exotic gardenProperty, garden, house, and lawn maintenancePlanting native trees, tending to trees and shrubsWeed control and spraying (especially around lawn edges)Pruning, clearing fallen trees, and mulchingGeneral cleaning of tools and machinery maintenanceKeeping the property in a park-like condition at all timesWeed control and general maintenance on the greater farm Successful applicants need to: Be physically fit and have plenty of energy, enthusiasm, loyalty, and commitmentHave a background in gardening, farming, horticulture, or conservationBe experienced with operating quad bikes, tractors, and other farm equipmentAble to work on steep terrain when requiredHave a 'tidy eye' and work with a high level of attention to detailHave a high standard of health & safetyHave a good knowledge of ornamental and exotic plantsGeneral knowledge of native plants and fruit treesHave initiative and common senseBe a good team worker and be able to work unsupervisedHave a full car licence and gun licenceBe able to use a chainsaw safely and preferably have a ticketMust be able to pass a drugs testSalary is negotiable and dependent on experience. This role is 45 hours per week. Days are Monday to Friday with some flexibility to work weekends. You will be required to work over the Christmas period (excluding STATs). Start date is as soon as possible.
