You will provide leadership and support to our 4 front country team delivering critical conservation work across Te Anau and Fiordland National Park front country sites as well as Mavora Lakes conservation sites.You will travel to and from Te Anau to our front country and Milford Road sites to both implement and oversee work programmes for our front country DOC staff, contractors, and volunteers.The position will be focussed on:daily supervision of staff, contractors, and volunteersdelivery of training and weekly work planning for staffensuring a strong focus on the health, safety and wellbeing of staff, contractors and visitors is present in planning and monitoring the workfacilities maintenance and site restoration across an extensive network of Department owned assets.At times you will be required to work weekends and public holidays and you will participate in the afterhours duty roster.You will be a team player with great communication and organisation skills and the proven supervision experience to work alongside Te Papa Atawhai staff, our community, iwi and stakeholders.If you have the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you:Great people management and proven supervisory skills or experience leading a team.Experience in recreational and historic land management.Experience with asset management and planning.Hands on experience with maintenance of amenities and assets/structures.Experience with small plant machinery such as mowers, scrub bars and tractors.A strong knowledge base in conservation.Excellent planning and organisational skills with experience in data entry and analysis.Proficiency with computers and phone apps for managing data and work programme.A strong commitment to safety and wellbeing in the workplace.A good level of physical fitness and an ability to work outdoors in a range of conditions.A full New Zealand driver licence.A tertiary qualification in a relevant field.Practical background in building or carpentry.Knowledge of the Fiordland area.Apply online with a CV and cover letter that highlights your relevant skills, experience and motivation for joining Te Papa Atawhai.
