Auckland One Rail (AOR) is a joint venture formed by Comfort Delgro Group and UGL, providing whole of life asset maintenance and engineering services, including rollingstock preventative and corrective maintenance, overhauls, and refurbishment programs.
AOR operates the Auckland passenger rail services and maintains the associated stations, depots, and train fleet as part of achieving excellence in customer service.

Job Purpose
The Auckland One Rail Project Director of CRL will play a critical role in ensuring the successful transition of the CRL section of the AMRN from construction into integrated operations with the existing network. The position will require working collaboratively with cross-functional teams related to all existing stakeholders to identify gaps and develop strategies that enable the railway to operate safely, efficiently, and effectively.
This role will involve managing operational resources for AOR to ensure delay-free commissioning, including developing plans and processes for commissioning activities, coordinating with contractors and suppliers, Auckland Transport (AT), and the project, and ensuring that all operational resources are properly trained and prepared for commissioning activities through to operational handover.
Overall, you will play a critical role in ensuring that the railway is properly prepared for commissioning, and that all commissioning activities are communicated effectively within the organization and conducted safely, efficiently, and effectively.
Responsibilities
Responsible for developing detailed plans that outline the stages necessary to transition the railway from construction into operations.
Work closely with the functional units of AOR, including assets, operations, customer and community, and HSQES.
Develop and implement KPIs to measure the success of operational readiness activities and communicate progress to stakeholders.
Identify, evaluate, and mitigate operational risks associated with the railway.
Work closely with the AOR training department to develop and implement training and competency programs for all AOR operational staff.
Responsible for leading and managing a team of operational readiness professionals.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of all regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with regulatory agencies to ensure that all necessary licenses and certifications are obtained prior to the start of operations.
Conduct regular regulatory audits and inspections to ensure ongoing compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Work with cross-functional teams to ensure that all operational processes and procedures align with regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with Auckland Transport's CRL Project Team to ensure alignment with AT's plans for testing, commissioning, asset transfer, and operational go-live.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
A bachelor's or master's degree or related experience in engineering, business, project management, or a related field.
Professional certifications in project management or engineering may also be beneficial.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Strong project management skills and experience.
Understanding of railway operations and maintenance.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance.
Experience managing complex engineering or construction projects, preferably in a railway environment.
Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing contractors and suppliers.
Experience with commissioning and handover processes and procedures.
