Te tunga | The role Tatauranga Aotearoa Stats NZ is seeking a sharp and experienced Programme Director with proven capability and an excellent track record in managing significant transformation and change programmes. This is a 2-year fixed-term position preferably based in Wellington.
As the Programme Director - Modernising Data and Statistics, you'll be responsible for the successful delivery of a programme comprising: the next census, Integrated Statistical Data System, Stats NZ's role in social investment, and the adoption of new international standards for economic statistics.
Reporting to the programme's Senior Responsible Owner - Rachael Milicich, Deputy Chief Executive/Deputy Government Statistician, Insights and Statistics - you'll work closely with Tier 3 Business Owners and Tatauranga Aotearoa Stats NZ's Enterprise Portfolio Officer to set up the programme, deliver outputs that enable the realisation of benefits, through to programme closure. Fundamental to the programme's success is ensuring it's appropriately integrated, connected, and aligned to the wider operations of Tatauranga Aotearoa Stats NZ, including the emerging Strategy System Map kaupapa.
You'll also work alongside the Programme Director - Digital to ensure alignment and consistency of practices between programmes, as well as clear and documented dependency management.

A relevant post graduate degree- e.g. Masters in Business or related field.Recognised programme management qualification - Practitioner Managing Successful Programmes, Project Management Institute PMP certification.Proven capability and experience of managing the full tenure of a project of significant magnitude, driving action, and continuous improvement in the achievement of maximum project potential.Previous and proven technical expertise and relevant qualifications. Deep expertise gained in programmes of comparable size and complexity, such as the infrastructure sector.Demonstrated experience in managing significant transformation and change projects with very large financial and people responsibility.Excellent understanding of how to communicate with, and lead people effectively, in other locations across the entire country, including the intricacies of remote working arrangements.Experience and knowledge on how to engage, inspire, and mobilise large teams towards a common set of goals, and to do it with an approach that takes people with them.Knowledge and experience, or desire to learn and build knowledge and experience of Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Reo and Te Ao Maori.Me pehea te tuku tono| How to apply If this sounds like you, click on the Apply now button to be redirected to the application page on our careers site.
